More Than Skin Deep: Structural Racism and Poverty in New Jersey–Dozens of reforms are needed in order to bring the state closer to social and economic equality, according to a new report by the Anti-Poverty Network of New Jersey, which blames structural racism as a major cause of poverty. “The Uncomfortable Truth: Racism, Injustice, and Poverty in New Jersey,” the newly released report, contains five major recommendations, chief among them that the state make addressing structural racism an explicit public priority, starting with the creation of an inclusive statewide task force to develop a comprehensive plan to address the issue.
