A Time for Change: Civil Rights in New Jersey

“A Time for Change: Civil Rights in New Jersey,” presented by the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey, is a colorful and content-rich panel supplemented with archival film footage — that examine some of the key events and personalities touching on New Jersey’s role in the Civil Rights movement. Highlights include explorations of the ’60s urban unrest in Camden, Newark and nationally; the struggle to secure voting rights in the South highlighted by the protests at the 1964 Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City; and the first Miss Black America Pageant, which was staged in Atlantic City in 1968.
The event will be in the new Student Center lobby of the Mays Landing Campus and light refreshments will be served.

During the month of February, relevant Black History films/documentaries will be shown in the Student Center TV lounge such as Selma and Eyes on the Prize. Other film titles will be added.
Giveaways and light refreshments will be offered at each event.
