Artist Treacy Ziegler’s ‘Inside Out’ Exhibit
February 17, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Atlantic Cape Community College’s art gallery will host “Inside Out,” an exhibit showcasing artwork by artist Treacy Ziegler in varied media as well as works by four prisoners from her prison workshops; including paper cast sculpture made from the letters of prisoners incarcerated throughout the United States. The exhibit will be on display from Feb. 6-March 10.
Since graduating from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Ziegler, of Newfield, New York, has been featured in over 35 solo exhibitions in United States and in Canada, including an exhibition at the Herbert Johnson Art Museum of Cornell University and the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira New York. An artist of intellect, distinction and compassion, she is the recipient of numerous awards and author of papers on art, identity, and philosophy, while also cited for teaching art to prisoners in solitary confinement. Working with both printmaking and oil paints, Ziegler constructs large images of fleeting light surrounded by darkness, resulting in subjective narratives for the viewer to discover and unravel.
There will be a lecture and reception at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
The gallery is located inside the William Spangler Library, D Building, at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike. Gallery hours are: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday; and 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday.
The gallery will host monthly exhibits of a wide variety of works including drawings, paintings, printmaking, computer arts, ceramics, sculpture, photography, mixed media, 2-D design and crafts. Showcased artists will be students, faculty and local artisans.
