Learn How to Fight the SJG Pipeline through the Pinelands!

We are having an important meeting on the South Jersey Gas pipeline and we need you to need to come out to help save the Pinelands! The dangerous and destructive South Jersey Gas pipeline is back. We beat the pipeline once, defeated it a second time, and now we need them to beat them a third time! After hundreds of people came out against the South Jersey Gas pipeline in 2014, the Pinelands Commission voted down this same proposal because it violated the Comprehensive Management Plan. Even though the facts and the application have not changed, the Christie Administration is still strong arming the Pinelands Commission to move forward with this application.

Please join us for an educational forum on Thursday, January 5th to learn how to fight the pipeline, write opposition comments to the Pinelands Commission, and help spread the public outcry.

The South Jersey Gas pipeline is being proposed through the Pinelands Forest Area, an environmentally sensitive and important ecological area. The project does not serve the best interest of the Pinelands. This pipeline will destroy the natural resources of one of the most unique regions in the country, while re-fueling the B.L. England power plant to become the larger sources of greenhouse gas emissions in South Jersey.

In August, the Executive Director of the Pinelands Commission unilaterally approved the pipeline without a full Commission vote or public hearing. Sierra Club went to Court against this approval and won our appeal. After we won our Court victory, they are trying to push this through all over again. On their first meeting after the Court decision, the Commission went behind closed doors and passed two resolutions to expedite the approvals of both pipelines proposed in the Pinelands. This happened without public comment on the resolutions or prior notice on the agenda. Now a public hearing has been scheduled on Tuesday, January 24th to determine whether the South Jersey Gas pipeline is consistent with the Comprehensive Management Plan, which was already voted down two years ago.

We need you to join us at the hearing on Tuesday, January 24th in Manahawkin to urge the Commissioners to stand up for the Pinelands region and reject this pipeline!
