Stockton AC, NAACP, and NJ League of Women Voters Host Public Forum on Redistricting in New Jersey
February 27, 2019 @ 7:00 pm
Dear Atlantic City Community Friends,
Please join us on Wednesday 2/27 from 7-8:30pm in the Fannie Lou Hamer Event Room on the Stockton University Atlantic City campus for Redistricting Reform for a Fairer New Jersey, a public forum on redistricting in New Jersey with the League of Women Voters (LWV) of New Jersey and the NAACP – Atlantic City Branch. This event will feature a presentation that discusses redistricting and how it impacts communities and their political power and highlights redistricting best practices implemented in other states. Following this informative presentation, an interactive public comment period will allow attendees to ask questions and share their ideas for reforms to New Jersey’s redistricting process.
The League of Women Voters is hosting 10 similar public forums across New Jersey to collect public feedback about how we draw district boundaries in the state. At the conclusion of this series of forums, the LWV will share the public input they gather with state legislators in Trenton. This event presents a unique opportunity to learn about an important aspect of our political system and to participate in providing public input for policymakers as they consider reforms to redistricting practices.
This public forum is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. We strongly encourage you to join us for this engaging and important conversation about redistricting. Feel free to share the attached flyer with your respective associations and community groups to attend as well.
We look forward to having you join us on the Stockton Atlantic City campus for this conversation with the League of Women Voters of New Jersey and the NAACP – Atlantic City Branch.
