Local institution Gilchrist Restaurant is opening a fourth location on Pacific Avenue in Atlantic City at the site of the former Teplitzky’s Diner, according to a Facebook announcement on Thursday.
The new location will be six blocks from the future Stockton University campus in Atlantic City, and it is not hard to see Gilchrist’s blueberry pancakes going over well with a student crowd. Gilchrist has three other locations: one at Gardner’s Basin in Atlantic City, one in Margate and one in Egg Harbor City.
The Facebook post did not disclose a targeted opening date for the new location. Gilchrist’s other restaurants are open year-round.
Teplitzky’s Diner was part of the Chelsea Hotel which closed at the end of last year. Billionaire investor Carl Icahn’s conglomerate acquired the property at the start of the summer (as first reported by Route 40) and quickly moved to reopen it as the Tropicana’s Chelsea Tower.
