Atlantic County officials expect to announce shortly the signing of a lease at the soon-to-open National Aviation Research & Technology Park in Egg Harbor Township.
The engineering company responsible for the design of the new Stockton Aviation Research and Technology Park has requested more money for the job, raising the total contract cost by 9 percent. The additional costs are connected with work that was not included in the original scope of the project, according to a letter sent by AECOM, the international engineering company carrying out the work, to the Atlantic County Improvement Authority (ACIA). The ACIA approved the request last month. The new work, worth $28,031, takes the total cost of the job up to $766,421.00. A previous change order, approved by the ACIA in August, gave AECOM an additional $41,234.00.
The Atlantic County Improvement Authority is seeking bids for development of the “core and shell” of a building at the Stockton Aviation Research and Technology Park. The Authority is looking to begin early works at the new development. The contract up for grabs is to provide infrastructure and site improvements for Building #3, including site grading, site utilities installation, driveways and parking lots, according to the document on the ACIA’s website. Bidders must submit a bid bond for 10 percent of the total bid amount. Sealed bids will be opened and read at 1pm on Oct.
The infrastructure company that was awarded a contract to design the first building at the Stockton Aviation Research and Technology Park already wants to be paid more. Infrastructure company AECOM was last month granted an additional $41,234.00 for an amended contract worth $738,390.00, according to the minutes of the Atlantic County Improvement Authority’s August meeting. The extra money is needed because when AECOM submitted its original bid, the scope of the project was not yet finalized, according to the minutes. “Therefore, certain assumptions were made, and while some of these assumptions were correct, some were inaccurate,” the minutes state. Among the changes are an allowance to design a “Thunder Room” (a kind of top-notch conference room, apparently) and a roof-top deck.
