Umbra & Penumbra

“Kelly Lentz, of Photography by Kelly, will be installing her photo series “Umbra & Penumbra”, The series will focus on 5 residents of Brigantine and how they start their day. Inspired by the solar eclipse taking place on August 21st, Kelly’s images will show how the shadows of our daily routines (or lack of) overlap. These images of everyday life will encourage the viewer to see how these overlaps reveal to us the parallels in our daily lives. In honor of eclipse, all work by Kelly will be 21% DURING the Reception, and 10% off through 8/21 (This includes pieces, prints, cards, etc. outside of the Umbra and Penumbra series!!)

In a Solar Eclipse, the Sun is obscured by the Moon. This happens when the Moon, which orbits Earth, moves between the
Sun and Earth. The result is the Earth falling shadow of the moon; and the Moon casting 2 shadows, known as Umbra and Penumbra.

Kelly Lentz has been a Brigantine summer resident for 5 years and recently made the move to full time in 2015. Kelly and her daughter are thrilled to be a part of such a welcoming community and look forward to building their life as well as her bussines here on the island.

Kelly Lentz Biography:
“I am a photographer whose passion and creativity breathes
life into me everyday. I have been working with couples and families throughout the Tri State area for over 13 years. As a full service photographer my clients images are given the attention they deserve. Together we construct our concept, location, and wardrobe to produce an end result that will be treasured for generations. I still shed a tear at my couples weddings, whether it be during their first look or first dance, being invited to be a part of such intimate moments is honor.

My love for the arts started at a very early age and it continued to flourish throughout my high school years and beyond. While in high school I was given a scholarship to attend a photography class at Moore college of art. After attending that course I knew a career in Art was in my future. I attended Bucks County Community College as well as Kutztown University and studied Art Education. I pursued a career in Photography with a local company and quickly branched out on my own. In 2003 Photography by Kelly was born!

I continue to attend workshops and turn to mentors to advance my techniques and expand my creative vision. On a personal note I do enjoy shooting the environment around me but have a real love for the conceptual shoot. This has opened up a new business adventure for me that has a strong focus on Glamour portraits of Women. Every Women needs to embrace their own kind of beautiful and let it shine!
