PierAC Status Updated To ‘Something Happening’ In July

PierAC, the former Garden Pier owned by Bart Blatstein at the far end of the Boardwalk, still looks rather disheveled but it now has a website that says it will be opening soon. And it’s hiring.

What exactly is PierAC? “An outdoor promenade featuring live entertainment, classic cocktails and culinary delights from its rotating food trucks, Pier AC brings an unique venue to the World Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk,” proclaims the marketing spiel on the website.

The pier will reopen Wednesday, July 12 with country act Jessie Chris, according to the site. PierAC has also teamed up with the AC Surf School, so you will be able to paddle board and learn to surf from there. Plus, they are promising food trucks. And there are two musical acts booked in July (one of them is dueling pianos).

Just  – before we get too excited, let’s remember that one of Bart Blatstein’s other properties – the Showboat – reopened with a similarly sparkly website that proclaimed it as the second coming of family-friendly activities in Atlantic City (although it recommended going to Ocean City for rides. That part of its site has since been edited.) Showboat has still not quite found its niche in the city. And Blatstein’s wider plans are unclear – we got a few words from him the other week.
