Sublime Seafood Company, tucked away in the corner of the Produce Junction plaza on Tilton Road in Egg Harbor Township, does an amazing fish taco. It’s also run by a guy with a heart, who is on a mission to get more people in the community to eat better food. Sublime’s owner and chef, Charles Soreth, is pitching the Sublime Seafood Club, which he hopes will both give back to a good foodie cause and get people to eat fresh fish regularly. The 12-week program will give participants two dinner-sized portions of a responsibly-sourced fish each week, plus a recipe and information on the fish. The cost is $220 (that works out to $18.33 a week) and the proceeds go to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
The Rodeway Inn along the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township could be revived as garden apartments and townhouses, according to a developer’s plan that will go before EHT’s planning board on Monday. Eastern Pacific Development is seeking preliminary site plan approval for an affordable housing project that would turn the existing 77-unit motel into one-and two-bedroom garden apartments. Nine additional townhouses with two- and three- bedroom units would also be built, according to the planning board agenda. The developer is also proposing to demolish an existing office building on the site and add a children’s play area and a community area. “There’s a significant need for affordable housing right now,” said Hans Alpert, chief executive of Eastern Pacific Development.
The engineering company responsible for the design of the new Stockton Aviation Research and Technology Park has requested more money for the job, raising the total contract cost by 9 percent. The additional costs are connected with work that was not included in the original scope of the project, according to a letter sent by AECOM, the international engineering company carrying out the work, to the Atlantic County Improvement Authority (ACIA). The ACIA approved the request last month. The new work, worth $28,031, takes the total cost of the job up to $766,421.00. A previous change order, approved by the ACIA in August, gave AECOM an additional $41,234.00.
